Peregrine falcons take their first flight around 40 days after hatching. With that schedule, the Woodmen Falcon chicks should take their first soaring flight to the ground or nearby roofs the week of June 21 or later. Eventually, they'll fly away and build their own nest somewhere else.

The young falcons should be taking flight in the next week or two. They will stay around the Omaha area as they strengthen their wings and Zeus and Hera teach them to hunt.
The young will be here until this fall. They will then fly south for the winter. After that time, if they return to Omaha, Zeus and Hera will fight them to preserve their territory.
Zeus and Hera have been staying in Omaha all year round. They have plenty of food to survive our cold winters.

How long does it take for the babies to learn to fly? Will they stay at this nest or have to find one of their own?
