Falcons have been using the Woodmen Tower as their nesting spot for the past 25 years and hopefully this year will not be the exception. Two falcons have been spending most of their time in the east box, giving us the impression that the female will choose this one. Time will only tell. But in the meantime they've got a lot of cleaning to do. Notice all those bones?! Those will all get thrown over the edge and will be scattered all over the sidewalks below. Keep watching to see how things go.
A falcon has been spending a lot of time in the north nest box these past few mornings. Since the east nest box is such a mess, isn't it a possibility that they will choose the north nest box simply because it is cleaner? Is there a reason why staff cannot clean out the east nest box and add new gravel if necessary to improve the chances that they will nest there?
